So You Want to Become a Laser Hair Removal Technician? Q&A Guide to our Courses:
Laser hair removal technicians were not that common two decades ago. Back then, the technology was so new and the concept so unusual that there was not enough demand for it. Now there are dozens of medi-spas and salons that all have at least one of these laser techs on their staff list.
If you are curious about becoming one of many certified laser technicians, you probably have several questions. This is not a job or career where you can simply start under the guidance of an experienced laser technician! Instead, you are required to complete hours of training at the bare minimum, to become certified, and that is exactly what we are offering.
After many successful years in business running a professional Esthetics Spa, we have teamed up with other experts in the industry, we use Lumenis M22 equipment to bring you the best courses for laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation. With this new certified course and laser hair removal training, you can finally find employment. Any local spas or in Esthetic Clinics across Canadian would love to have you and are in demand!

The following are some of the usual Q&A questions about this career. It may help you make a decision to either attend an information seminar on the subject or enroll in our laser hair removal training, where this type of program is taught right. Personal one-on-training for laser treatments, with medical-grade equipment and machines, is hard to come by. Lots of Schools offer this training but in very large class sizes, this is advanced information for anyone looking for a fast track to permanent employment at a cosmetic clinic.
How Do You Become a Certified for Laser Hair Removal?
We have put together all the vital knowledge into one program and give you hours of hands-on training. This ensures that when you are finally hired by a spa or salon as an Esthetician, you have the equivalent of a diploma program at your fingertips. No risks of accidentally harming any clients as a laser tech. You also have to complete several hands-on procedures under the guidance of a technician who has been doing this for years and then pass both a written and a skills test to become certified. We are currently offering this to new students in Ontario and mainly in these areas:
- Windsor
- Tecumseh
- London
- Amherstburg
- LaSalle
Do You Need to Become Certified to Perform Laser Hair Removal Services?
Without a doubt, YES. Would you trust a beautician to cut your hair if he/she was not trained, certified, and/or licensed? Would you trust someone to give you injections or draw blood if he/she was not trained and certified? Most people would not, and you would not attempt to use these hair removal devices on someone else’s body without knowing how to use it. Laser safety is a big part of this career. Certification also makes your job official in the sense that no one questions a certification, but they will question your skills and abilities without certification.
How Long Does It Take to Become a Hair Removal Technician?

If you are dedicated to learning all the information full-time for your laser hair removal education, you could finish it in three months or less. If you only attend part-time, or weekends where a private training course is offered, it might take four to eight months to complete.
Current Training Dates:

- September 13-14th
How Much Do Technicians Make an Hour/Year in Canada?
The yearly wage for a laser technician varies from province to province, city to city. However, you can expect to make somewhere between $15 and $25 dollars an hour. Some employers also supplement your hourly rate with a commission, while a few other locations will only pay straight commission, like sharing a tip pool. You will need to decide for yourself what is a fair wage, and then look for employers that offer something that matches your current living expenses.
How Much Does Training Cost?
The course is rather affordable, currently priced at $2000 Canadian Dollars. In most cases, the tuition at an accredited beauty school varies greatly and books may be an added expense and/or included in the cost of enrollment. Just to give you some idea, the course offered in the U.S. is about $1500 U.S. dollars, and it is about one to four thousand Canadian dollars here in Canada, depending on where you live. With all courses, the training program would have rights reserved for all education received.
Is Getting Certified Right for You?
Certified medical technicians work anywhere from thirty hours to fifty hours a week. After you complete your training you may start to work extra weekends just to get more hours in. However, you should always work with your employer to achieve the best work schedule for all involved. Every bit of time spent learning how to use the laser properly is important to your career.
You may find yourself interested in other spa technician training as your career develops, like laser skin care or tattoo removal services. Laser skin care is on the rise and we are here to properly train the beautiful techs of the future.
